Design Draughtsperson

We are seeking a skilled Design Draughtsperson to support innovative engineering projects, creating detailed designs and solutions for industrial applications.

💰 Salary: £35,000 per annum 📍 Location: Leicester (with occasional travel to another UK site) 🕒 Hours: Full-time 📅 Closing Date: 28th July 2026


About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing engineering team, supporting the design and development of electro-mechanical equipment across a range of industrial applications. You will play a vital role in producing high-quality, technically accurate designs that meet both customer requirements and industry standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing design requirements and supporting engineers with technical solutions
  • Producing detailed drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation
  • Supporting research and development activities, including testing and prototyping
  • Assisting production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve processes
  • Delivering projects on time and within budget in a fast-paced environment
  • Applying relevant regulatory and industry standards to all work
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and the adoption of new technologies

About You

We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused individual with a strong interest in engineering design. You will be comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Essential:

  • Strong engineering drawing skills
  • Experience using 2D and 3D CAD software (ideally Autodesk)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to work to deadlines and manage workload effectively

Desirable:

  • Experience with sheet metal design or fabrication
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and materials
  • Exposure to electrical equipment or simple circuit design
  • Advanced Excel skills

You should hold an HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, or have completed a relevant apprenticeship, alongside industry experience in a similar role. A positive, problem-solving mindset and attention to detail are essential.
