Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cable, connector, and contact designs using 3D/2D CAD systems
- Serve as technical lead for designing contacts, insulators, cabling, and latching mechanisms
- Support the Senior Design Engineer in developing complex interconnect solutions
- Orchestrate the construction of functional and non-functional prototypes with internal/external vendors
- Lead/support design reviews, leveraging calculations, experimental results, and research
- Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, collaborating with manufacturing on tooling adjustments
- Provide technical support for existing products
- Apply electrical engineering principles to connectors, contact technology, and cable design
- Develop test procedures and oversee testing of new designs as required
- Perform risk analyses (e.g., FMEA) aligned with AS9100 compliance standards
- Globally travel for work (domestic & international)

Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
- 5-7 years’ experience in Military & Aerospace
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Knowledge of ANSYS (FEA), Mold-flow, and related simulation tools
Core Technical Skills
- Understanding of polymeric materials, metals, and coatings
- Competence in electrical engineering principles
Nice-to-Haves & Preferred Experience
(Works-on-the-ground problem-solving experience enhances candidacy)
- Hands-on prototype development experience (rapid prototyping preferred)
- Expertise in coaxial and fiber optic connectors, connector sealing/shielding
- Familiarity with transmission line theory and digital signal transmission
- Knowledge of high-frequency RF applications (up to 40 GHz)
- Working experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and IR reflow
- Experience with BGA (Ball Grid Arrays) assembly
- Soldering techniques and plating standards
- Experience with DE&D applications (e.g., ESA, NASA, or DoD electronics—manned/unnmanned vehicles, ordinance development)
- Hands-on FMEA and Root Cause Analysis (RCM) methods
- Proficiency in project management (GANTT charts, risk management)
