Design Engineer

Salary: Dependent on experience

Location: Glenrothes, Scotland

Contract: Permanent

Role Summary

We are seeking a Design Engineer to support the development of radial piston motor products for a wide range of customer applications across sectors including material handling, construction and forestry machinery.

The Design Engineer will be involved in product development, design concept generation, CAD modelling, drawing creation and stakeholder liaison to ensure technical requirements are clearly understood and delivered.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Product development of radial piston motor products to meet quality, performance and cost requirements.
  • Liaising with stakeholders, including customers and production teams, to ensure a clear understanding of requirements.
  • Generation of design concepts, technical specifications and solutions to support product development activity.
  • Creation and modification of CAD models and drawings to production standards.
  • Supporting design problem-solving to achieve robust and optimal engineering solutions.
  • Applying understanding of manufacturing considerations relating to precision-machined steel and cast-iron components and assemblies.

Requirements of the Role

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical subject.
  • 3D CAD design and drafting experience, preferably using PTC Creo.
  • Understanding of design and manufacturing considerations for precision-machined steel and cast-iron components and assemblies.
  • Product knowledge of hydraulic pumps or motors is desirable.
  • Experience within a medium or high-volume manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving capability.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • The Design Engineer should be comfortable working with technical stakeholders across design, customer and production environments.
