The Design Engineer Role
The Design Engineer role is a fixed term contract for 3 months to play a pivotal role in bringing our R&D concepts to life. The Design Engineer will report to the Design Office Manager and work closely with the R&D team. Duties will be the effective delivery of 3D designs, problem solving and any other tasks as directed by the Design Office Manager.
What you'll be doing:
- Produce 3D models from concept developed by R&D team.
- Ensure designs account for standard manufacturing processes.
- Ensure drawings are compliant with company / industry processes and standards.
- Monitor (and uphold) the standards of all work produced within the department.
- Support the compiling of job packets, ensuring all relevant documentation is present and correct.
- Attend design meetings when required.
- Management of adherence to company procedures, with particular emphasis in regard to the company health & safety policies.
- Maintenance of company procedures and documentation.
- Effective updating and maintenance of any appropriate departmental records (if required).
Who we are looking for:
- Mechanical Engineering/Design degree or other relevant certification/experience.
- Demonstratable track record of relevant personal professional development.
- Previous experience working in a design role for an OEM or packager of equipment is preferred.
- Previous experience working in the UK municipal water sector is preferred.
- Previous experience producing and reading technical drawings is essential.
- Previous experience producing general arrangement drawings and drawings for manufacture including BOMs is essential.
- Self-starter with an ability to keep focussed on the result and what they need to do to achieve it without the need for close supervision.
- A team player with a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
- Proficient in the use of 3D CAD systems with strong knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred.
- Previous experience using FEA analysis, CFD analysis to prove designs.
