Design Engineer FTC
Design Engineer (Fixed-Term Contract – 3 Months)
The Design Engineer role is a pivotal contribution to our R&D efforts, focusing on developing concepts into high-quality 3D designs. Reporting to the Design Office Manager, this fixed-term (3-month) position involves close collaboration with the R&D team to rapidly deliver technical deliverables and support design-decision projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Produce accurate 3D models from R&D-concept designs
- Ensure seamless integration with standard manufacturing processes
- Maintain compliance with company & industry standards in documentation (e.g., technical drawings)
- Monitor departmental quality standards and enforce adherence to all work outputs
- Compile job packets, verifying completeness and correctness of documentation
- Attend design review meetings as required
- Uphold company health & safety protocols, with specific emphasis on procedural compliance
- Maintain and update departmental records as needed

Who We Are Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Design or equivalent certification/experience
- Proficiency in technical drawing production (design-for-manufacture) and BOMs
- Previous experience with General Arrangement Drawings
- Proven track record in 3D CAD (preference for Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD)
- Strong record of self-directed work, with minimal supervision needed and clear results focus
- FAME analysis (FEA/CFD) experience to validate designs
Preferred Experience
- OEM or equipment-packaging design experience
- Hands-on expertise in the UK municipal water sector
- Documentation-focused roles (e.g., job package compilation)
Soft Skills & Mindset
Team player with a collaborative mindset, able to efficiently cross-department. Independent yet approachable professional.
