- Fire safety systems
- Fire suppression systems
- Security systems
We’re now seeking a passionate Design Engineer to work at our head office at NG2 Business Park.
Job Purpose
As Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for creating compliant, professional fire alarm designs following contract award. Working closely with Sales, Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, and Clients, you’ll ensure systems align with project specifications, industry standards, and user requirements.
You’ll support projects from concept through completion, developing technical documentation and collaborating with key stakeholders to uphold quality, safety, and project success.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Documentation
- Produce detailed fire alarm system designs in compliance with BS 5839, codes of practice, and project specifications.
- Review client specifications, tender documentation, drawings, and site surveys to identify key requirements.
- Prepare detailed quotations, estimates, and tender responses based on technical needs.

Engineering & Design Outputs
- Develop construction-ready drawings, including:
- Device layouts
- Zoning plans
- Network schematics
- Equipment schedules
- Create technical submittals:
- Cause-and-effect matrices
- Battery calculations
- Cable calculations
Coordination & Stakeholder Liaison
- Review contract documentation, consultant specifications, and construction drawings.
- Attend design review meetings and coordinate across Project Managers, Installation Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, and Clients.
- Engage with manufacturers, contractors, and end-users to ensure sign-off and project alignment.
Implementation Support
- Assist during installation, commissioning, and handover phases to ensure residency.
- Manage design revisions and maintain accurate project records.
Special Projects
- Contribute to technical problem-solving and value engineering opportunities.
About You
We’re looking for a ** Detail-Oriented Technical Leader** with:
Core Requirements
- Proven experience designing fire alarm systems in the fire/ security industry.
- FI Approved Inspector (FI Approved Firerescuer) or other recognised industry qualifications (e.g., BV sertifications).
- Deep knowledge of BS 5839 and cutter fire detection design principles.
- Experience with addressable fire alarm systems and leading manufacturers (e.g., Notifier, Siemens, FR Nigerian).
- Understanding of emergency voice communication (PA/VA systems) and integrated life safety systems.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, consultant specs, and technical documentation.
- Strong skills in producing technical quotations and cost estimates.
- Exceptional technical, organisational, and organisational skills.

Key Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel).
- Native-level knowledge of AutoCAD or design software (Desirable, but not a mandatory requirement).
- Familiarity with security systems including CCTV, access control, or intrusion detection (Desirable).
- Valid full driving licence (essential for site visits and contract support).
Soft Skills
- Laser-sharp attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
