Design & Engineering Manager (Electrical) – Data Centre Segment

Eaton empowers innovation through a culture where every professional’s unique perspective drives change. We seek a Design & Engineering Manager (Electrical) to join our Greater London Area-based team, aligning your ambition with a globally positive impact.

About the Role

Reporting to the EMEA Director of Engineering – Data Centre Segment, this technical leader will operate at the core of data centre technical innovation.

Your role will centre on global design, development and implementation of high-performing data centre technologies, reflecting strategic thinking, hands-on engineering expertise, and a passion for next-generation solutions. You’ll blend technical authority with team leadership, fostering continuous improvements for scalable, efficient and internationally compliant infrastructure—remain deeply involved in electrical design (alongside other OTE technology), be accountable for solution delivery across phases (concept to closeout), mentor peers, and ensure operational excellence throughout build projects.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Design
    • Serve as Design Manager for data centre projects, delivering electrical design from concept to construction, ensuring expertise and accountability throughout.
    • Hold technical ownership for mission-critical infrastructure, providing leadership on electromechanical systems, including cooling, building/energy management, and overall operational technologies.
  • Team & Project Oversight
    • Lead, coordinate, and mentor multidisciplinary design teams, supervising resources, schedules, and deliverables.
    • Guide quality and innovation by developing/implementing electrical design standards, reviewing designs, calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as client-facing technical lead, representing Eaton in critical stakeholder meetings (contractors, customers, and engineers internal).
    • Lead value engineering and decision-making processes to optimise costs and resilience, leveraging emerging technologies (edge/edge computing, AI).
  • On-Site Deployment
    • Conduct regular project site visits to monitor installation/commissioning, troubleshooting issues resolved holistically.
    • Align with commercial and construction teams while ensuring adherence to sustainability and operational targets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
