Are you an experienced and ambitious Design Lead, who is naturally proactive and enjoys getting stuck in and is looking for a new challenge!

As our Design Lead, your main purpose is to act as the guardian of our brand across every marketing touchpoint. You will set and protect our visual identity and tone of voice, and lead the creative work that brings acquisition, customer marketing, and brand campaigns to life across digital, social, print, direct mail, in-life communications and website.

You will work closely with the Acquisition Lead, Customer Marketing Lead and Digital Lead to translate briefs into creative that is on-brand, effective, and consistent regardless of channel. You will line-manage a Designer, prioritising their workload across competing team demands, and act as the final check on anything leaving the team that carries our brand.

Skills & Experience required to do this role...

  • Proven experience as a brand guardian or senior/lead designer, ideally covering both brand/campaign creative and digital
  • Experience briefing, reviewing and managing the output of other designers or junior team members
  • A working knowledge of a range of design software, hardware and operating systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A flexible approach and a willingness to accept feedback and incorporate it into designs, while confidently pushing back to protect brand integrity
  • A strong understanding of the key principles of branding and identity systems
  • Knowledge of user experience best practice for digital and web
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple concurrent briefs across different marketing discipline

Essential Qualifications...

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field.
  • Experience as a graphic designer or in a related field.

Desirable skills & experience...

  • Experience working in telecoms, broadband, or another subscription/utility-style business.
  • Experience managing external agencies, freelancers or specialist suppliers (photography, video, illustration).
  • Motion graphics, video editing, or animation skills.
  • Photography or art direction experience for shoots.
  • Experience building or maintaining a brand toolkit/asset library for use by non-designers.
  • Line management or mentoring experience specifically, beyond general design leadership.

Our Marketing teams' work style is hybrid, which involves spending time at one of our offices several times a month, you would be required to travel if you are successful in this role.

Your key responsibilities has our Design Lead will be...

  • Act as guardian of brand: maintain and evolve brand guidelines, tone of voice, and visual identity standards across the business.
  • Lead creative development for acquisition campaigns, customer marketing, loyalty and add-on product promotions, across digital, print, direct mail, social and web.
  • Line-manage and prioritise the workload of the Designer.
  • Partner with the Acquisition Lead, Customer Marketing Lead and Digital Lead to turn campaign briefs into creative concepts and finished assets.
  • Own the design brief and review process, ensuring quality and brand consistency before assets go live.
  • Design and maintain website and digital assets in collaboration with the Digital Lead and Digital Marketing Executive, where web is the right channel.
  • Create wireframes, mock-ups and layouts for web, app, and campaign pages across mobile, tablet and desktop.
  • Develop and maintain identity systems, templates and toolkits so non-designers across the business can produce on-brand materials.
  • Design graphics, icons, illustrations and logos as needed across brand and campaign work.
  • Brief and manage external agencies, illustrators, photographers or videographers where specialist input is needed.
  • Keep the design function current on trends in brand, campaign creative and digital design, bringing recommendations back to the team.
  • Establish and maintain design standards, file management and best practice across the team.
