About the Role
As Design Lead, you will lead the team’s creative delivery across all brand touchpoints, reporting to the Principal Creative. Managing a mix of graphic designers and digital designers, you’ll ensure visually exceptional work that aligns with cultural relevance and elevates brand storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Direction
- Collaborate with copywriters to develop integrated campaign concepts where verbal and visual ideas are equally harmonised.
- Generate bold, culturally resonant creative ideas that scale effortlessly across all channels (digital, print, social, outdoor, retail, etc.).
- Approach briefs with fresh, unexpected thinking while maintaining originality and cohesion.
Design Leadership
- Oversee campaign execution from concept to final output, translating creative visions into outstanding visuals.
- Define design standards and benchmarks to ensure high-quality output, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Partner closely with the Principal Creative to contribute original concepts and refine creative direction.
Design Excellence & Problem-Solving
- Maintain consistency across adaptable formats (Digital, Print, Social, Outdoor, Retail), navigating constraints with creative tact.
- Solve complex design challenges—balancing ambition against budget and timeline realities.
- Demonstrate expertise in digital, print, motion/animation, and environmental design through a standout portfolio.
Brand Governance
- Champion the brand’s visual identity, ensuring all work adheres to the highest standards of consistency, accessibility, and integrity.
- Play a key role in evolving the brand’s design systems and guidelines.

Team Management
- Manage and inspire a team of designers daily, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Assist Studio Managers in allocating work strategically, balancing skills, workloads, and development needs to prevent burnout.
Organisation & Efficiency
- Multitask managing projects with rigorous organisational skills, ensuring smooth file management and version control.
Collaboration & Workflow
- Work closely with Principals, copywriters, digital designers, and strategists to refine integrated creative outputs.
- Engage with Account Managers to negotiate realistic timelines; liaise with production partners, printers, and suppliers on technical requirements.
Design Systems & Processes
- Develop and maintain design templates, toolkits, and systems that optimise efficiency without compromising creativity.
- Establish robust workflows, quality checkpoints, and asset management standards for the team.
Communication
- Articulate design decisions and work confidently, embracing feedback while constructively pushing briefs for optimal outcomes.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience: Extensive in graphic/digital design leadership, managing teams, and executing integrated campaigns for major consumer brands, ideally in telecoms/tech.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Proficiency in digital design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.).
- Technical knowledge of web, print, social, outdoor production workflows.
- Understanding of motion/animation tools (e.g., After Effects) for short-form content direction.
- Portfolio: Proven versatility and excellence across multiple design disciplines.
- Soft Skills: Mentoring junior designers, maintaining brand consistency, and problem-solving complex constraints.

Desirable Experience & Skills
- Previous in-house/departmental design experience.
- Background bridging traditional and digital design.
- Awards/recognition in design.
- Deep experience with UX/UI, motion design, or agile workflows.
- Strong familiarity with design systems and brand guidelines.
