Design Manager – Industrial & Residential Construction
About the Role
Caddick Construction is a family-owned business renowned for quality, integrity, and innovation in the construction sector. We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team as we take on a diverse range of exciting new projects across the Industrial and Residential sectors, primarily in the West Midlands, extending to Nottingham.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring designs align with client specifications and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to develop cost-effective and efficient designs
- Manage project design budgets and timelines to meet deadlines and financial targets
- Work closely with client teams, liaising on multiple projects to ensure seamless communication
- Maintain clear, proactive communication with customers to resolve issues efficiently and keep projects on track
- Lead design team meetings, providing regular updates to senior management on project progress
- Ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations (including CDM and Building Regulations)
- ** Facilitate communication** between all project stakeholders to meet project objectives
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout the design and construction process

Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contracting business
- Construction industry expertise, particularly in design and build, new build, and refurbishment projects
- Command of current CDM and Building Regulations
- Experience managing document control systems
- Strong ability to liaise with cross-disciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and clients
Personal Attributes
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Commercial acumen and ability to make informed, decisive design and project decisions
- Organisational and prioritisation skills to manage design workflow effectively
- Customer-focused mindset to build long-term, productive relationships
