Design Manager

Design Manager – Storage Points, Maintenance & Emergencies Portfolio

About the @one Alliance

We are a totally collaborative organisation composed of eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) alongside our extended supply chain. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme (AMP8)—our most expansive and challenging portfolio yet.

This period will push boundaries, enabling us to set global benchmarks while creating a environment for enhanced growth and career progression for our workforce. Our mission: to ensure water reliability across the region by managing projects under scrutiny with unmatched performance.

We are looking to expand our teams with a Design Manager to lead an engineering team on storage points, maintenance, and emergencies projects within the Water Business Unit.

Are you ready to shape the future of waste and potable water services here?

Key Responsibilities

Design Management

  • Lead and manage engineering design delivery for storage points, maintenance, and emergencies projects in the water (potable) non-infrastructure portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Engineering Project Plans, including scope, program, cost, risk, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with Senior Discipline Engineers to determine suitable process designs and treatment methods.
  • Assess project complexity and allocate competent engineering resources accordingly.
  • Implement and enforce design quality procedures to support a right-first-time philosophy.
  • Manage suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring their design input is seamlessly integrated and aligned to deliver against targets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
