Design Manager

Cumbria | Major Infrastructure | Highly Regulated Environment | Up to £70,000 + Package

A leading international contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join a major infrastructure project based in Cumbria within a highly regulated environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong civil engineering background who has managed multidisciplinary design teams on complex infrastructure projects.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead and manage the design function throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
  • Manage design programmes, deliverables, and technical approvals.
  • Chair design reviews and interface meetings.
  • Ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Manage design changes, technical queries, and document control.
  • Work closely with construction, commercial, and client teams to support successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Strong civil engineering background within major infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Engineer.
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, design management, and engineering processes.
  • Experience working within a highly regulated environment is desirable.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is advantageous.
