Design Manager
We’re recruiting for a Design Manager to join our renowned residential contracting team. This is a key opportunity for someone with strong construction or architectural experience—whether you’re an experienced Design Manager or an architect looking to transition into a hands-on leadership role within a contracting environment.
Our organisation boasts a strong pipeline of projects and a dedication to quality, innovation, and sustainability. In this vital role, you will contribute to the successful delivery of a diverse range of residential developments by controlling the design process from pre-construction through to completion.
About the Role
You will collaborate closely with internal departments, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure designs are:
- Practical
- Compliant with regulations
- Commercially viable
- Delivered on time, aligned with project programmes

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate design information across multiple residential developments, ensuring smooth workflows.
- Lead design coordination meetings with consultants, technical specialists, and internal stakeholders.
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical details for risks, conflicts, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with planning conditions, building regulations, statutory requirements, and project specifications.
- Support the delivery of cost-effective, buildable solutions through value engineering and collaborative problem-solving.
- Monitor design progress, verifying that information is issued accurately and in line with schedules.
- Collaborate with construction, commercial, and technical teams to drive successful project outcomes.
- Promote best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement in the design process.
Requirements
- Experience as a Design Manager or similar leadership role within construction or development (or a background in architecture with a passion for transitioning into management).
- Strong technical knowledge of construction detailing, buildability, and residential design.
- Deep understanding of current building regulations and residential standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- Highly organised, proactive, and capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset, with experience working in multidisciplinary project teams.
