What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide design leadership across small to large infrastructure projects, coordinating multidisciplinary in-house and external design teams including civil, MEICA, process, and geotechnical engineers to deliver compliant, high-quality designs on time and within budget.
- Ensure all outputs meet client requirements, technical standards, and UK legislative obligations, including full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations.
- Working closely with senior leadership and delivery teams, help establish robust design processes, procedures, and governance to support right-first-time design delivery.
- Manage design programmes, technical risk, change control, resourcing, and forecasting, ensuring alignment with construction and operational needs.
- Act as the primary technical interface with clients and stakeholders, embedding buildability and operational requirements into designs while championing innovation, sustainability, and low-carbon solutions.
- Place strong emphasis on health and safety by ensuring design risks are identified, mitigated, and clearly communicated for the construction phase.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing design environment.

What You’ll Bring
- A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering).
- Significant experience in design and management within the water or a related infrastructure sector.
- Proven track record of project leadership and successful delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- In-depth knowledge of UK H&S and design regulations, particularly CDM 2015.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
- Commercially astute with experience in managing project finances, risks, and change control.
- Full UK Driving License
