About the Role
Dowds are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to lead electrical design delivery and technical governance across multiple projects and bid activities.
You will play a key role in shaping high-quality, buildable electrical design solutions across work winning, preconstruction, and live project environments.
What you'll be responsible for
- Provide leadership across electrical design and technical governance
- Support the delivery of the Design Management strategy across the business
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and processes
- Lead electrical design reviews of bids, identifying risks and opportunities
- Support development of best-value technical solutions and value engineering options
- Work closely with estimating teams to strengthen bid competitiveness
- Develop electrical design strategies aligned to client requirements
- Act as electrical technical authority across allocated projects
- Lead and chair design review meetings with MEP consultants
- Manage electrical design scope, deliverables, and consultant performance
- Ensure coordination with mechanical and BIM disciplines
- Review technical submittals, calculations, and key design outputs
- Verify installation against design intent and resolve technical issues
- Contribute to procurement decisions for major electrical packages
- Support BIM integration and coordinated delivery

What we are looking for
Essential
- Proven experience in electrical building services design within MEP/construction
- Strong track record in design management on complex projects
- Experience working with consultants and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong knowledge of design coordination, value engineering, and procurement
- Ability to lead design reviews and influence key decisions

Desirable
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered or working towards (IET / CIBSE or equivalent)
- Experience across sectors such as healthcare, life sciences, or commercial
- Exposure to BIM and digital construction tools
