Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager with a strong background in facades and external envelope systems to join a leading construction project based in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to work on a high-profile project, managing the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the facade design process from concept through to completion.
  • Liaise with architects, structural engineers, consultants, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Review and manage technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations, industry standards, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate design programmes to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Identify and resolve design and technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attend design team meetings and provide technical guidance where required.
  • Manage design change processes and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Work closely with site teams to ensure design intent is delivered during construction.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of facades, curtain walling, cladding, rainscreen systems, glazing, or the external envelope.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and technical detailing.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common construction document management systems.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates will ideally hold one or more of the following:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, Architecture, Building Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (such as CIOB, RICS, ICE, CIAT, or equivalent) is advantageous.
  • CSCS Card (Manager or Professionally Qualified Person)
  • Knowledge of current UK Building Regulations and facade compliance requirements.
