Location: Warrington / Hybrid (Travel to Projects Across the UK)

ABOUT SYNERGIZE
Synergize is one of the UK's leading specialists in refurbishment, planned maintenance and building remediation, delivering high-quality projects across both the public and private sectors. Since 2004, we've built our reputation on delivering complex programmes safely, efficiently and to the highest standards - with expertise spanning planned maintenance, refurbishment, external wall remediation and energy efficiency improvements.
Today, Synergize forms part of Grosvenor House Group (GHG) - a growing national group bringing together specialist businesses across facilities management, refurbishment, passive fire protection and property services. Being part of GHG means combining the agility and close-knit culture of a specialist contractor with the stability, investment and long-term opportunities of a larger organisation delivering projects across the UK.
As our business continues to grow, we're looking for talented people who want to make a genuine impact, help shape the future of the business, and develop their careers within an ambitious and expanding group.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Design Manager, you'll become the technical authority responsible for leading design across our growing portfolio of complex remediation and refurbishment projects. Working at the heart of the business, you'll bridge the gap between Pre-Construction and Operations, ensuring every project is technically robust, compliant and fully coordinated before work begins on site.
You'll be influencing project outcomes from the earliest stages, leading multidisciplinary design teams, navigating the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) Gateway process and ensuring our projects meet the highest standards of technical compliance.
You'll work directly with clients, architects, structural engineers, fire engineers and specialist consultants throughout the PCSA period, providing expert guidance while helping shape solutions that are both buildable and commercially successful.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
