Design Manager (Hospitality Interiors)
Design Manager – Interior Design (Hospitality Focus) @ London-Based Consultancy
About the Role A leading London-based interior design consultancy specialising in high-end hospitality projects is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee projects from concept to completion.
The ideal candidate will:
- Lead technical aspects of multiple live projects
- Ensure flawless delivery while maintaining design integrity
- Coordinate between studios, clients, contractors and subcontractors
You’ll work collaboratively with directors and senior designers, ensuring seamless project execution—balancing budgets, programmes, and quality throughout the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities
As the technical lead on-site, you’ll:
- Act as the liaison between design studios, clients, contractors and specialist trades
- Review and approve workshop and shop drawings, RFIs, submittals and material samples—ensuring alignment with original design intent
- Produce, review and interrogate technical drawings and joinery details in-house
- Coordinate across the design team and external consultants, keeping schedules accurate
- Monitor budgets, programmes and risk management, identifying issues before escalation
- Participate in contract administration, including site meetings, inspections and snagging
- Manage FF&E schedules, specifications and procurement tracking, contributing where value engineering is relevant

This hands-on role demands both strong technical skills and exceptional project management—balancing leadership with day-to-day problem-solving.
Essential Requirements
- 8–12 years’ post-qualification experience in interior architecture/design (hospitality focus preferred)
- 3–5 years’ experience delivering high-end hospitality projects, including full delivery-phase contract administration
- Proven ability to review and interpret shop drawings, submittals and samples
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, plus FF&E scheduling/procurement experience
- Experience managing multi-phase projects simultaneously
- Reliable communicator, skilled at building trust with clients, contractors and subcontractors
