# Design Manager – Major Projects

We are seeking experienced Design Managers to lead the successful delivery of complex, high-value infrastructure schemes across the UK (and occasionally internationally). This role is ideal for a senior construction or engineering professional with Development Consent Order (DCO) experience and a background in regulated or nationally significant infrastructure projects.

You will oversee the end-to-end design management of large, multidisciplinary project teams on major capital and design-led ventures, including early concept, consenting, detailed design, construction, and handover. Key contributions will involve client engagement, governance, and business development, while driving organisational growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver major, complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion, including those contingent on DCOs
  • Manage design processes, coordinating interfaces across large, multidisciplinary teams—internal resources, consultants, contractors, and supply chain partners
  • Establish communication guidelines for discipline alignment, ensuring quality and progress in design solutions while meeting client needs and requirements
  • Lead technical discussions with clients, acting as their senior representative in relationships with:
    • Clients
    • Regulators
    • Statutory bodies
    • Key stakeholders
  • Champion health, safety, environmental, sustainability, and customer outcomes, embedding best practice across projects
  • Conduct project and programme reviews to drive continuous improvement and lessons learned for future projects
  • Support business development activities, including:
    • Client engagement
    • Bid leadership
    • Preparation of winning proposals
  • Mentor and develop the broader team, contributing to the strategic growth of the business

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
