Job Description We are seeking an experienced Engineering Design Manager for our major Rail project HS2 Track. The role will be to lead the successful design delivery of complex Track infrastructure amongst other discipline functions located across the UK, Thailand and France. You will be responsible for the design management of multidisciplinary project teams working across HRS13, HRS14 and HRS15 contracts, working from scheme through detailed design, construction and handover. You will also play a key role in client engagement and governance, contributing to the continued growth of the project team. Responsibilities: Lead and deliver major, complex railway infrastructure projects from inception to completion. Manage the engineering/design process, including the interface coordination of large multi-disciplinary teams, including internal resources, consultants, contractors and supply chain partners. Set communication guidelines across disciplines to ensure progress and quality in engineering/design solutions, including the use of best practices to create solutions to satisfy client’s needs and requirements. Lead technical discussions with clients. Act as the client’s senior representative, managing relationships with clients, regulators, statutory bodies and key stakeholders. Champion health, safety, environmental, sustainability and customer outcomes, embedding best practice across projects. Undertake project and programme reviews to drive continuous improvement and lessons learned. Support and lead client engagement. Qualifications Essential Bachelor’s degree in Civils Engineering or related field. Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex construction and/or engineering/design-led rail infrastructure projects (high-speed rail, metro, light rail). Experience managing and directing large project teams both insourced and outsourced. Demonstrable experience delivering to demanding schedules, targets and quality standards. Desired NEC Option A Lump Sum contracting experience Tier 1 contracting experience Chartered Engineer status Personal Attributes: Leader with the ability to motivate and develop project teams. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach. Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels in both matrix and non-matrix environments.
