Job Title: Design Production Manager (Water Sector) Can Be Based From: Grangemouth, Warrington, Stafford, Annesley, Solihull, Bristol, Rickmansworth, Indian Queens

Our Environment Division:

  • A Source to Sea Strategy integrating in-house engineering design support for regional business units.

Purpose Of The Role:

The Design Production Manager will:

  • Lead complex and high-value designs, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion, collaborating with Design Delivery Manager(s), Discipline Managers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Mentor and support Design Leads, ensuring:
    • Technical excellence
    • Effective risk management
    • Compliance with highest SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) standards
  • Oversee programme and budget reporting for design projects.
  • Hold line management accountability for Design Leads and related personnel.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee multi-disciplinary engineering design (from feasibility to completion) using in-house teams, external partners, and contractors.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align designs with:
    • Client specifications and standards
    • Operational requirements
    • Security protocols
  • Uphold “Doing the right thing” principle to maximize value and profit.
  • Ensure Galliford Try’s SHE policy compliance, legal adherence, and best practice across teams.
  • Lead by Galliford Try’s EPIC values in client interactions and industry visionary participation.
  • Maintain compliance with Galliford Try BMS and other regulatory systems.
  • Advance Carbon, Digital, DfMA (Defined by Manufactured Architecture), and Innovation strategic priorities.
  • Manage financial budgets, programmes, and commercial compliance for designs.
  • Identify project requirements through:
    • Documentation reviews
    • Site visits
    • Client-supplier dialogues
  • Formulate commercial offers/tenders based on design inputs.
  • Track project tasks meticulously using budget and cost-performance systems.

About You:

Look for candidates with:

  • Leadership & people development experience (measurable track record).
  • Strong Communication & Stakeholder Management Skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Oracle Cost/Performance management.
  • Deep knowledge of:
    • Multi-disciplinary engineering design
    • Water industry operations
  • Commercial & contract awareness
  • Proven team/line management experience
