Design Project Manager
Department: OCU Design Location: OCU Stockport Head Office
The Opportunity
OCU Design are seeking an experienced Design Project Manager to lead design delivery across complex infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical awareness, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to coordinate high-quality design output from concept through to construction.
You will champion multidisciplinary coordination, manage design risk, and work at the centre of project delivery to ensure safe, efficient construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of design across assigned infrastructure projects
- Manage design programmes, deliverables, interfaces, and key milestones while ensuring alignment with project goals
- Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, supply chain partners, and internal teams (project, engineering, commercial & site)
- Ensure design solutions are safe, buildable, compliant, and meet project/business requirements
- Monitor progress, manage change, and provide structured reporting to project leadership

Requirements
Essential
- A degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant experience in design engineering, project management, or multidisciplinary infrastructure delivery
- Proven ability to manage design in complex environments with multiple stakeholders and interfaces
- Strong understanding of CDM 2015 roles, duties, and responsibilities
Desirable
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or ability to progress)
- Familiarity with HV/MV cable systems, substations or similar infrastructure
- Exposure to temporary works and construction delivery

Working Arrangements
- Primarily remote/hybrid (home-based), with regular site visits.
- Travel will be required to projects and company offices.
- Full UK driving licence is mandatory.
