About The Role

Due to continued growth, Avove is seeking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer to join our United Utilities Framework. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering the civil design elements of water industry projects as part of a multidisciplinary design team. The role will involve leading projects or discrete packages of work, providing technical direction and supervision to junior and less experienced engineers, and contributing to the successful delivery of schemes from concept through to completion.

Location: Warrington (Avove offers flexible hybrid working, with a combination of office and remote working)

Key Responsibilities

Produce and review design concepts, calculations, detailed designs, drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation. Supervise junior members of the design team, providing guidance and technical support to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications. Support the professional development of project team members through mentoring and ongoing technical input. Assist in the preparation, management, and monitoring of project budgets, including resource planning, financial tracking, and reporting. Prepare and review feasibility studies, appraisal and assessment reports, and other written technical documents. Ensure compliance with the Company’s Integrated Management System, including Health & Safety, Environmental, and all other relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

Strong technical background in the design of water and wastewater non‑infrastructure works. Applicants from relevant related disciplines and backgrounds are welcomed. Computer literate, with proficiency in the MS Office suite and a working knowledge of engineering software such as AutoCAD. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organisational ability and the capability to produce clear, concise technical reports. Proven ability to lead, contribute to, and work effectively within a team environment, with a committed approach to meeting project deadlines. Demonstrates a strong client‑focused approach to service delivery. Self‑motivated, with a proactive mindset and a drive to support continuous improvement initiatives. Maintains a strong focus on Health and Safety, embedding best practice into all aspects of work.
