Join our Design & Technical Team at L&Q:
L&Q have a new opportunity for a Design & Technical Manager to work at Beaulieu in Chelmsford. This position requires a manager who is delivery and action focused, proactive and able to work independently, who can identify risks and deliver effective solutions to ensure on-time delivery in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
You will join an existing technical team reporting to a Senior Design and Technical Manager, taking full responsibility for allocated duties covering information production for a BSR Gateway 2 submission and tender & construction stage information production and third party approvals, typically covering RIBA Stages 4 & 5. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently to meet the program deadlines and provide accurate progress reporting, displaying the standard for excellent customer service in line with L&Q values.

Your impact in the role:
- Lead and manage your day-to-day activities, motivating the team and the wider consultant and subcontractor designers teams
- Lead and audit design for compliance and co-ordination from inception through to completion
- Manage information delivery against performance targets – cost, quality and time – and advise on build design through to project completion
- Manage the design production for trade packages from tender to record drawings, and manage the third-party approval process
- Work collaboratively with Land, Commercial and Construction/Site teams, supporting the team’s due diligence process to mitigate risk
- Develop, maintain and influence relationships with consultants, contractors and other key external stakeholders
- Contribute towards the control of budgets within the design and technical function and support the divisional business plan
- Lead project team reviews of your allocated packages to provide consolidated comments and manage the process of addressing these to meet the program requirements
- Lead the collation of the tender package information with support from the multi-discipline project team
- Populating and maintaining trackers for your allocated tasks

What you'll bring:
- Experience of RC frame construction of mansion and tower block residential schemes
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, including contract management skills
- Knowledge and working experience of Asite for managing design information
- Excellent problem solving, communication, analytical and presentation skills
- Strong project co-ordination skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Strong experience of managing information production and mainlining associated management tools
- A high level of computer literacy, including good working knowledge of MS Project or Asta
- Experience of unitised façade construction, BIM and CAD packages is an advantage
- Degree level in a relevant discipline and/or working towards a professional qualification such as CIOB or RIBA is desirable
