About Appleby Westward Appleby Westward is the SPAR Wholesaler and Retailer covering the West of England. About Ashburton Ashburton is a vibrant small town on the edge of Dartmoor that offers a great balance of community life and access to nature. Do you have exceptional customer service skills and want to start or further your career in retail? If so, you might be the perfect fit for our team! The Designate Team Leader Role Our SPAR convenience stores are more than just a local shop, and we are proud to be at the heart of the community. As a Designate Team Leader (DTL) you’ll be a member of our management team, taking accountability when the Store Manager is out of the Store. You will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service and store standards, by leading from the front. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to cover holidays, absences, and periods when the Store Manager is away, as the role requires adaptability to business needs, including night shifts (with a typical week involving 1–2 early shifts and 1–2 evening shifts. Do you have? Proven Team Leader/Supervisory experience within the retail industry; Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively; Excellent customer service and communication skills; Ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and customers; Ability to work positively and lead a team to achieve results. You will be responsible for: Supporting the recruitment, induction and training of new team members; Being a positive role model to the team; Ensuring the store is safe for colleagues and customers; Keeping the store well stocked and presented; Supporting the successful running of the store. You will be required to comply with all legislative requirements as well as all Company policies and procedures; ensuring the team do the same. This will include health and safety, food handling and age restricted sales.
