Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Adults

Designated Nurse Safeguarding Adults

Location: London Based ICB | Working Pattern: 4 Days Per Week | Arrangement: Predominantly Remote | Contract Length: Until March 2027


The Role

As the Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Adults, you will:

  • Provide expert safeguarding leadership and advice across the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and wider system
  • Support the development and implementation of safeguarding strategies and policies
  • Work collaboratively with:
    • Local authorities
    • Providers
    • NHS partners
    • Other key stakeholders
  • Provide professional oversight and assurance relating to safeguarding adults activity
  • Contribute to safeguarding quality improvement initiatives and system learning
  • Support statutory safeguarding requirements and governance processes

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience as a Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Adults
  • Extensive safeguarding adults experience within NHS or commissioning environments
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • The Care Act
    • The Mental Capacity Act
    • Associated safeguarding legislation
  • Experience providing strategic leadership at system level
  • Ability to:
    • Influence and engage senior stakeholders across multiple organisations
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working within:
    • An ICB
    • A CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group)
    • NHS England or similar commissioning organisation
  • Experience supporting:
    • Safeguarding assurance frameworks
    • Governance processes
  • Knowledge of wider health and social care commissioning arrangements
