It’s a particularly exciting time to be joining CIU, a SES Energy Company, as we move through a significant growth phase and continue to strengthen our position in the market. We are looking for a Designer Reports to: Engineering Projects Manager Works as part of the Engineering Projects team alongside Project Engineers, Designers, and Project Administrators. Role Purpose To undertake design and drafting activities in support of engineering projects, including new build and rental packages. The role involves producing accurate design documentation and supporting project delivery from concept through to completion. Key Responsibilities Produce 3D models, general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and bills of materials in line with project specifications. Ensure all design outputs are checked thoroughly prior to issue for engineering review and approval. Revise design documentation in response to internal reviews and client comments. Participate in project meetings and design reviews, incorporating changes as required. Deliver design work in line with agreed project schedules. Apply sound engineering judgement to produce practical, maintainable and cost-effective designs. Liaise with internal departments, including engineering, procurement, and workshop teams, to support project delivery. Interface with external vendors (e.g. fabricators, electrical engineers) where required. Provide support during manufacture and assembly, resolving design queries from the workshop. Carry out site visits, surveys, and inspections as needed. Update drawings and documentation to reflect ‘as-built’ conditions on project completion. Core Duties Design both standard and bespoke equipment packages. Prepare complete design documentation sets including: General arrangement drawings P&IDs Electrical diagrams Fabrication drawings Bills of materials Ensure all deliverables meet required technical standards and project specifications. Consider manufacturing efficiency during the design process. Operate in line with company HSEQ procedures and applicable industry standards. Contribute to regular internal and external project meetings. Working Relationships The role requires regular interaction with: Engineering Projects Manager Project Engineers and Design Engineers Procurement Workshop and Operations teams Close coordination across these functions is essential to ensure successful project delivery. Performance Measures Delivery of accurate design documentation within agreed timescales. Compliance with project specifications, relevant standards, and budget constraints. Quality and completeness of design outputs. Requirements Qualifications and Experience HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred. Previous experience in a similar design role within an engineering environment. Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred). Experience with piping, small bore tubing, process, and fabrication design is advantageous. Skills and Attributes High level of attention to detail. Ability to manage workload across multiple tasks. Clear and effective communication. Practical problem-solving ability. Well organised with good planning skills. Able to work collaboratively within a project team.
