About the Role & Brand
At Varley, we are a contemporary fashion brand designed for the modern woman. Founded in 2015 by Lara and Ben Mead, we are an international, family-run business headquartered across London, Los Angeles, and New York.
Our mission is to craft elevated, timeless wardrobes by blending year-round collections—including knitwear, outerwear, and activewear—that reflect the evolving needs of women. Inspired by the women who wear our pieces, we aim to instil quiet confidence, enhancing what they already are.
Our team is made up of 85% women, embodying our values: quality, diversity, creativity, and the belief that kindness fosters lasting impact.

- Mentor and guide Junior Designers in best practices, technical skills, and creative thinking.
- Develop detailed design packs—including colours, fibres, silhouettes, and motifs—to facilitate a seamless handover to the Development Team.

- Maintain crucial documentation such as collection overviews, production performance reports, and sourcing packs, coordinating efforts with Junior Designers.
- Ensure global deadlines are met while adhering to Varley’s calendar, keeping production on track.
- Support Senior Designer in reviewing and presenting seasonal collections to the Sales teams, sharing how Varley’s vision translates into commercial products.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
