Role Overview
GFI Group, part of BGC Group, is a leading intermediary in the global OTC and listed markets, providing brokerage services across a broad range of financial products.
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual to join our Euro Interest Rate Swaps (IRS) Desk as a Desk Assistant in our London office.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing Front Office desk and learn directly from experienced brokers. The successful candidate will gain hands-on exposure to the interest rate swaps market while supporting the team with the day-to-day running of the desk, developing market knowledge and building the skills required for a future career in broking.
Responsibilities
The role holder will be responsible for assisting brokers with administrative tasks, examples being:
- Provide administrative and operational support to brokers on the Euro IRS Desk.
- Assist with trade capture, booking, and post-trade processes.
- Liaise with Operations, Middle Office, and Compliance to resolve trade queries.
- Support brokers with client communication and day-to-day desk administration.
- Monitor market activity and key economic events affecting interest rate markets.
- Assist with preparing reports, maintaining spreadsheets, and analyzing market data.
- Help identify potential client opportunities and support business development activities.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Learn the fundamentals of the Euro Interest Rate Swaps market with the aim of progressing into a broking role.

Regulatory Status
The role is identified as Conduct Staff as defined under the Senior Manager & Certification Regime and is subject to the SMCR Code of Conduct.
The successful candidate will be expected to study towards relevant CISI qualifications as part of their professional development. (e.g., Capital Markets Programme)
The role holder will operate at all times in accordance with FCA and other relevant regulatory requirements and be fully aware of and act in accordance with relevant desk procedures and compliance and other policies and procedures.

Technical Skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Basic understanding of the financial services industry, and the sector in which the organization operates.
- Good understanding of/or ability to understand relevant technologies.
- Comfortable learning new trading platforms and technologies.
