About Proact
At Proact, we are a pan-European data management specialist focused on unlocking the power of data through strategy, storage, connectivity and security. But that is only part of our story. We are also here to break the mould, stake new ground and do things differently. We have created a fast-paced, people-first working environment with a focus on innovation, learning and career development. Here you can bring your whole self to work as part of a truly diverse organisation, working with both local and national customers. You can act with integrity, with commitment, and with excellence in mind. This is what it means to #BeAProactivist.
Role Overview
The Desk Based Account Manager (DBAM) is a pivotal role within Proact's UK Sales ecosystem. The DBAM owns a defined portfolio of active customer accounts that have been profiled for propensity to spend, with the express purpose of going deeper, driving cadence and surfacing opportunity at volume.
The role is the natural succession step for sellers who have completed Proact's New Business on-ramp. DBAMs are entrusted with active customers, a privilege earned through the portfolio fluency built as a CSM, the outreach discipline built in New Business, and the GTM literacy to apply our five frameworks (Storage, Operational Resilience, Hybrid Cloud, Modern Work, Managed Cloud Services) at depth across an account. The natural next step from DBAM is Strategic Account Management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key Responsibilities

- Own and develop a defined portfolio of active customer accounts.
- Build a light-touch account plan for each customer, anchored in Proact's five frameworks.

- Position the full Proact portfolio (Professional Services, Support, Assessments and Managed Services) to expand share of wallet.
Cadence
- Maintain a structured, repeatable engagement rhythm across every account in the portfolio.
- Adapt Proact's 9 Touch Point methodology for active customer cadence rather than cold outreach.

- Manage quotes, renewals and order processing efficiently, freeing time for value-led customer engagement.
