Desktop Support Engineer – Cross-Asset Commodities Trading Firm

A Desktop Support Engineer is required to join a cross-asset commodities trading firm, supporting both physical and derivative trading. With ongoing growth, regulatory changes, and new product introductions, the firm seeks a First Line Support Engineer to deliver exceptional customer service, maintain IT systems, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • First Point of Contact: Deliver desk-site and walk-up support with responsive, business-impact-driven prioritisation.
  • IT Support Management: Handle full-cycle IT support, including:
    • Tackling support tickets from logging to resolution
    • Escalating issues where necessary
    • Ensuring timely issue resolution
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with front, middle, and back office teams across all asset classes.
  • Broad Support Scope: Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support across:
    • Desktop computing (Windows 10/11, O365)
    • Telephony and network systems
    • Servers and market data technology
    • Trading platforms (Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters Trading for Exchanges)
  • High-Absorbency Environment: Operate in a heavily regulated, high-pressure trading environment—focusing on proactive troubleshooting and crisis management.

Key Requirements & Skills

✅ Technical & Analytical

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in desktop/technical support, ideally in a trading or fast-paced business environment.

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, tailored support based on user needs (e.g., Traders, Executives).
  • Excellent prioritisation, communication, and stress resilience.

✅ Technical Proficiency

  • Familiarity with commodities trading software (Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters).
  • Exchange & messaging applications: Microsoft Exchange, O365, Mimecast.
  • Windows OS management: Windows 10/11, O365, Microsoft Teams, SCCM, Intune.
  • Hardware management: Dell, HPE, Lenovo in trade-floor environments.

Contract & Location

  • Rate: £300–£400/day (Inside IR35)
  • Location: 5 days/week in London (St Paul’s)
  • Duration: 6-month contract (with extensions likely)
  • Start Date: ASAP
