Desktop Support Engineer (SC Cleared) – Thames Water
About the Role
We are seeking Desktop Support Engineers (SC Cleared) to support the Enterprise Laptop Hardware (ELH) Device Deployment & Distribution Programme for Thames Water. The role focuses on device deployment, post-build validation, end-user setup, and onsite support across client locations.
Responsibilities
Device Deployment & Setup
- Receive, record, and stage laptops at central and distribution sites
- Deploy OS images using SCCM Task Sequences
- Install and configure endpoint hardware (laptops, monitors, peripherals)
Post-Build Validation & Testing
- Perform post-build checks (boot, login, network, application access)
- Ensure devices meet quality standards before handover
- Capture test evidence using agreed checklists

End-User Handover & Support
- Conduct physical device handover using approved checklists
- Provide basic user guidance and onboarding support
- Capture user acknowledgement for audit records
Asset Management & Documentation
- Update asset tracking systems
- Maintain chain-of-custody records
- Maintain deployment logs and documentation
Issue Handling & Escalation
- Resolve basic deployment and hardware issues
- Escalate complex issues to SOE/Imaging SME
- Support defect tracking processes
Floor Support & Hypercare
- Provide floor-walking support post-deployment
- Assist users during the transition period
- Support Hypercare activities

Logistics & Site Coordination
- Support packaging, labelling, and device movement
- Coordinate with central and site teams
- Work across multiple UK locations
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Experience in desktop support / EUC deployment roles
- Hands-on laptop deployment experience
- Basic SCCM imaging execution knowledge
- Strong troubleshooting and user support skills
Preferred
- Large-scale device rollout experience
- Experience in regulated environments
- Familiarity with asset management and ITSM tools
- Floor support / Hypercare experience
