Desktop Support Engineer | IT Support Engineer
Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to join our client on a 3-month contract in a hybrid role.
- Location: Hybrid – Daventry, Northamptonshire (2 days per week onsite)
- Contract: Initial 3 months
- Rate: £200–£300 per day (Outside IR35)
This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on IT professional specialising in Microsoft 365, desktops and cloud technologies to support our users in a dynamic IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1st and 2nd line desktop support, with occasional 3rd line involvement
- Troubleshoot **Windows 10/11 **hardware and software issues
- Support Microsoft 365 applications, including:
- Outlook
- Microsoft Teams
- OneDrive
- SharePoint
- Manage users, groups, and permissions in Microsoft 365/Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Configure and support laptops, desktops, and mobile devices
- Perform hardware builds, deployments, and device replacements
- Support printers, peripherals, and meeting room technology
- Maintain efficient ticket management through IT Service Management, meeting SLA targets
- Collaborate with infrastructure and project teams to enhance IT solutions

Essential Requirements & Experience
- Proven commercial experience in a Desktop/IT Support role
- Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 administration and user support
- Windows 10/11 support experience required
- Familiarity with Azure AD (Entra ID) and Active Directory
- Intune and device management knowledge
- Experience with Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online
- Exceptional troubleshooting and customer service skills
- Strong written/verbal communication with a proactive problem-solving attitude

Desirable Skills
- Microsoft Autopilot experience
- SCCM/Endpoint Manager familiarity
- Basic networking knowledge (DNS/DHCP/TCP/IP)
- ITIL Foundation certification

You’ll be working within a fast-paced IT team, ensuring end-users have seamless access to tools and systems. Your role is crucial in maintaining productivity and supporting smooth IT operations.
