Location: Southend-on-Sea, England, UK (Onsite) Job Type: Full-Time | Freelance / B2B Contract Rate: £160/day Schedule: Monday–Friday | Standard Business Hours Hiring: Desktop Support Engineer (L1) | Deskside Support | End-User Computing (EUC) Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer (L1) to provide onsite end-user support within a dynamic, enterprise IT environment. The right candidate should have robust experience in desktop troubleshooting, hardware repair, and Microsoft-based technologies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver robust onsite desktop and deskside support for hardware, software, network, and end-user queries
- Execute IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) activities and break/fix Problematica
- Troubleshoot complex and everyday issues in:
- Windows 10/11
- Microsoft 365, including Outlook and Teams
- VPN connectivity and associated configurations
- Configure and maintain laptops, desktops, printers, and peripheral devices
- Administer user accounts, including password resets, via Active Directory (AD)
- Support device imaging, software deployments, and basic endpoint management
- Track, assign, and resolve incident tickets through an ITSM Ticketing System & ITIL processes, adhering to SLAs
- Escalate unresolved or complex matters to senior support channels

Requirements & Qualifications
- 2–5 years of professional experience in:
- Desktop Support, IT Helpdesk, or EUC environments
- Strong proficiency in:
- Working with Windows 10 & 11
- Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Active Directory (AD) and basic network fundamentals
- Sound problem-solving & technical troubleshooting skills
- An enterprise-ready demeanour, balancing dynamics and independence
- Robust communication & customer support abilities to engage with colleagues and end users
- Enterprise IT exposure strongly recommended
