Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, is a hub for transactional activity across multiple ABF companies within the ABF Grocery division. Supporting some of our well-known brands such as Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon, Jordans, Ryvita and Silver Spoon, amongst others. We deliver Shared Service activities across a wide range of disciplines including Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR and IS.

We're looking for a highly organised, hands-on Despatch Manager to lead our busy despatch operation at our fast-paced bakery site. Every day, thousands of freshly baked products leave our bakery for customers across the region—and you'll be at the heart of making sure every order is accurate, on time, and delivered safely. This is a day shift role working Monday to Friday. If you thrive under pressure, enjoy leading people, and have a passion for operational excellence, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead team performance, communication and development.
  • Ensure an environment and culture of safe working practices
  • Leading and motivating a 24/7 despatch team to achieve outstanding performance.
  • Managing the safe, accurate, and timely despatch of fresh bakery products.
  • Coordinating daily vehicle loading and delivery schedules.
  • Driving continuous improvements in productivity, quality, and customer service.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety compliance.
  • Monitoring KPIs and implementing actions to improve operational performance.
  • Working closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, and Transport teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Developing team capability through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Manage operator efficiency rates through Warehouse Management System to meet business standards
  • Control Losses, Damage Date & pick accuracy to below weekly/period targets

The Right Person

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience managing a despatch, warehouse, or logistics operation preferably within a FMCG environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
  • A quick thinker, capable of making logical decisions and operating effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems
  • Analytical skills with the ability to prepare & present reports to the senior management team
