About the Role

Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders, and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions, as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products.

Role Overview

The Despatch Manager is responsible for leading all warehouse and outbound logistics operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement, storage, and dispatch of goods. The role ensures service excellence, inventory accuracy, legal compliance, and continuous improvement across warehouse and logistics activities.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations Management

  • Oversee all inbound, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch activities
  • Deliver daily operational plans safely, efficiently, and to agreed service levels
  • Maintain high housekeeping and visual management standards
  • Drive productivity and optimise warehouse flow and MHE utilisation

  • Manage outbound logistics, including loading and vehicle turnaround
  • Coordinate with transport teams and carriers to achieve OTIF delivery
  • Resolve delivery issues, escalations, and customer concerns promptly

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the leadership team
  • Support performance management, conduct, wellbeing, and engagement
  • Oversee labour planning, skills matrices, and resource deployment
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage absence
  • Ensure accurate HR data and support payroll processes while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Absence & Attendance Management

  • Advise on absence processes and support return-to-work plans
  • Monitor absence trends and escalate concerns where appropriate

Culture, Engagement & Wellbeing

  • Promote an inclusive, positive workplace culture
  • Support engagement initiatives and internal communications

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Maintain inventory accuracy and oversee stock investigations
  • Ensure accurate ERP/WMS transactions and stock control
  • Reduce stock variances, out-of-stocks, and delays

Performance Management & KPIs

  • Monitor and drive KPIs including productivity, OTIF, stock accuracy, costs, and damages

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead CI initiatives (e.g. Kaizen, 5S) and improve operational performance

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with internal teams and manage external partners and suppliers

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven warehouse/logistics management experience and strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety, MHE, ERP/WMS, and CI methodologies (IOSH/NEBOSH desirable)

Working Hours & Benefits

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 17:00pm
