Despatch Operative – Forklift Driver

Location: Harlow Hours: 06:00 to 15:00, Monday to Friday Pay Rate: £13.91 per hour

About the Role

Riverway Foods, part of the CPC Group, produces high-quality sausages using British high-welfare pork sourced from leading farmers. We’re now looking for a Despatch Operative to join our operational team in maintaining efficient order processing, storage, and distribution—though this role operates in a chilled environment.


Responsibilities

You’ll oversee the handling, storage, and efficient dispatch of finished products to meet customer needs, with duties including:

  • Order Processing & Compliance
    • Assemble and verify dispatch orders for accuracy and timely delivery
    • Ensure products are picked, packed, and dispatched in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Stock Management

    • Receive, store, and track stock generated by other departments
    • Wrap stock on pallets for transport logistics
    • Maintain FIFO (First-In-First-Out) stock rotation, prioritising use-by dates
    • Segregate clearly all allergens and designated products as per operational guidelines
  • Safety & Compliance

    • Accurately monitor and record vehicle temperatures and hygiene logs
    • Report any equipment damage or safety hazards promptly
    • Uphold Health & Safety regulations, including strict adherence to operational policies
  • Operational Flexibility

    • Adapt to fluctuating business demands with efficiency
    • Comply with all company procedures, including For example: record-keeping and dispatch protocols

Requirements

Desirable Skills for Success:

  • Forklift Licence: Valid Counterbalance forklift licence (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Driving License: Valid UK driving licence
  • **Communication:**Strong written and spoken English (ability to follow policies clearly)
  • Technical Proficiency: Competency in literacy, numeracy and routine IT tasks
  • Adaptability: Demonstrated attitude and flexibility; willingness to follow verbal/written instructions
