Despatch Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced Despatch Supervisor to join our Logistics team at JDM Food Group.

This is a site-based role at our Bicker facility, reporting to the Despatch Section Manager, working a 4 on / 4 off day shift pattern (06:00–18:00) with an hourly rate of £16.43.

As a Despatch Supervisor, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the Despatch department, ensuring products are received, stored and despatched safely, efficiently and on time. You’ll supervise and support the Despatch team, coordinate daily activities, and work closely with Production, Planning and Logistics colleagues to deliver excellent customer service while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.

  • Lead and support the Despatch team to achieve daily operational targets.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP compliance.
  • Coordinate daily workloads to ensure customer orders are picked, loaded and despatched on time.
  • Monitor team performance against agreed KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach, motivate and develop team members through regular guidance and feedback.
  • Work closely with Planning, Production and other departments to support operational priorities.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and complete required documentation.
  • Support investigations into operational issues, incidents and near misses where required.
  • Ensure the department remains organised, compliant and audit ready at all times.
  • Support the Despatch Section Manager with operational reporting and departmental improvements.

About You

  • Previous supervisory experience within a logistics, warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative approach.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and operational compliance.
  • Positive, proactive and solutions focused.
  • Good written and spoken English.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience leading teams within a warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Experience using SAP or a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Understanding of inventory control and supply chain processes.
  • Experience supporting performance management and employee development.
