The Role
Reporting to the Despatch Manager and, out of hours, the Shift Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for coordinating shift activity, leading the team, and ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate warehouse and despatch operations while maintaining excellent customer service levels.
The role requires strong leadership, operational awareness, and a proactive approach to health & safety, performance management, and continuous improvement.
Candidates will be self-motivated, conscientious individuals willing to be flexible and work a rotating annualised hours on a 3-shift pattern including night shift (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm -6am).
Main Duties:
- Lead Health & Safety by raising hazards, conducting Safety for Life conversations, and supporting accident reporting and investigations while promoting a positive safety culture
- Allocate labour and resources effectively to achieve planned workload and service levels
- Train, coach, and mentor Operators across all areas of despatch
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
- Deliver regular toolbox talks and support ongoing team engagement
- Provide daily shift feedback and lead Short Interval Control (SIC) activities
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with site standards
- Escalate and communicate supply issues, including contacting key customers out of hours when required
- Liaise cross-functionally to achieve strong OTIF (On Time In Full) performance
- Perform and oversee forklift-based warehouse duties including palletisation, production take-off, storage, despatch, order picking, loading, sorting, light production tasks, and housekeeping
- Ensure load plans are completed accurately and on time
- Produce delivery documentation and coordinate driver activity
- Maintain accurate stock movements and locations within the COBIS warehouse management system
- Communicate effectively with the Customer Service team
- Maintain stock accuracy, including management of aged stock
- Complete end-of-shift reporting and monitor shift performance
- Support team performance management, engagement, and development
- Lead by example and uphold company standards

Key Skills
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
- Self-motivated with the ability to work using own initiative
- Good understanding of Health & Safety within a warehouse environment
- Valid forklift truck experience within a fast-paced, high-volume operation
- Proven warehouse or production experience
- Reliable, motivated, and able to work to deadlines and procedures
- Positive attitude with flexibility to work overtime when required
- Strong teamwork skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
