The Delta Group
The Delta Group is a successful marketing production company with many well-known clients in the UK and Europe. The company’s software development team provides applications for its clients and internal use that automate processes and give insight and control over production. The environments that host and enable these systems need to be supported and improved to address issues and increase confidence in our products.
This role will be remote. However the candidate will need to be able to travel to either of the following sites:
- Head Office, Bishops Stortford
- Melksham Office, Melksham
An opportunity exists for an experienced Developer to take ownership of the ‘dev environment’ side of software development, who can:
- Set up and improve dev, test and live environments
- Monitor hardware and application environments
- Implement continuous build and delivery pipelines
- Use data and insight to refactor and improve the applications
- Ensure application security and resilience

The role is a developer role, programming and enhancing the company’s systems, and taking a lead on the environment and performance aspects that need to be addressed.
The successful candidate will have 3 or more years’ experience of application development. They will be well versed in web application programming in a Microsoft environment, with proven ability to take a business requirement, and turn it into well written, tested and maintainable code.
- Work with the Development and Infrastructure teams to improve our development tools, processes, technology stack
- Take responsibility for checking batch job successes/failures, documenting their operation
- Develop comprehensive monitoring solutions to provide full visibility
- Investigate performance spikes and issues, improve logging
- Establish a release version numbering scheme
- Find ways to retire old and no longer used code and data
- Migrate us to Git for source control and Azure DevOps as the CI/CD pipeline to automate testing and deployment
- Play their role in the development of our products and systems
- Improving deployment practices
- Reviewing testing process to see what tools we can use to automate functional as well as load testing.
- Maintaining security by ensuring we are patched and also running regular vulnerability and penetration tests
- Archiving, putting in place retention and structure to keep us lean
