Developer Experience & Platform Engineering Solution Architect

About the Role

Are you passionate about transforming how developers build, deploy and operate software?

Computacenter is looking for a Developer Experience & Platform Engineering Solution Architect to join our growing Cloud & Apps Practice, helping some of the UK's largest public and private sector organisations modernise software delivery through:

  • Platform Engineering
  • Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs)
  • DevOps
  • Developer Experience (DevEx) best practices

As a senior member of our Cloud & Apps Practice, you'll work at the intersection of technology strategy, architecture and delivery, partnering with customers to design and implement modern engineering platforms that:

  • Improve developer productivity
  • Accelerate delivery
  • Enhance operational resilience

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer engagements focused on:
    • Developer Experience
    • Platform Engineering
    • Enterprise software delivery transformation

  • Design and architect:

    • Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs)
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Cloud-native engineering platforms at scale
  • Facilitate workshops with:

    • Engineering leaders
    • Product teams
    • Platform stakeholders
    • To define target architectures, operating models and delivery roadmaps
  • Translate complex business and technical challenges into clear, implementable:

    • Platform
    • DevEx solutions
  • Provide end-to-end technical leadership across:

    • Pre-sales
    • Engagement delivery
    • From discovery through implementation assurance
  • Support sales teams with:

    • Opportunity shaping
    • Bid responses
    • Solution design
    • Commercial proposal development
  • Define reusable patterns and reference architectures across the Cloud & Apps Practice

  • Research and experiment with emerging:

    • Tools
    • Technologies
    • Practices
    • To evolve Platform Engineering and DevEx offerings
  • Lead and mentor consultants and architects, ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple engagements

Requirements

  • Expertise in:

    • Platform Engineering
    • Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs)
  • Developer Experience (DevEx) and DevOps transformation

  • Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, OpenShift)

  • CI/CD tooling (GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Harness)

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent)

  • Backstage or similar developer portal technologies

  • Observability, monitoring and developer feedback platforms

  • Secrets management and identity solutions (e.g., HashiCorp Vault)

  • Progressive delivery, release orchestration and modern deployment practices

  • Ability to:

    • Engage with senior stakeholders
    • Lead technical teams
    • Translate business challenges into practical, scalable engineering solutions
