Position Summary
An exciting opportunity is available for a Manufacturing Engineer within Rolls-Royce Aerospace Development Assembly Manufacturing Engineering (Bristol).
Responsibilities
You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and own the technical aspects of assembling development engines, modules, and rigs across Defence and aerospace applications. Your key duties include:
Process Development & Execution
- Conduct Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews with Design Engineering to minimise build complexities and ensure robust, manufacturable designs
- Develop, implement, validate, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to meet requirements for:
- Safety
- Quality
- Cost efficiency
- Delivery rates
- Lead time optimisation
- Drive the “50% quicker, 30% cheaper” development goal through novel process improvements and agile working practices
Collaboration & Problem-Solving
- Work with Development Assembly teams to design solutions for tooling, instrumentation, build measurements, and HS&E compliance
- Support the Factory of the Future initiative, trialling new technologies and sharing best practices across the business
- Rapidly diagnose and resolve build challenges using structured problem-solving methodologies, minimising impact on delivery and quality
- Ensure alignment with technical and digital system requirements through collaboration with cross-functional teams

Job Requirements
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Professionally qualified engineer:
- Minimum qualification: UK HND or foundation degree; or international equivalent
- Preferred accreditation: Recognised professional credential (e.g., UK IEng or CEng—where available)
- Expertise in aerospace manufacturing, particularly gas turbine assembly methods, including:
- Familiarity with PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
- Hands-on experience in design or tooling development (desirable)
- Technical awareness of manufacturing systems and software tools relevant to Rolls-Royce’s engineering landscape
- Strong analytical skills, ability to adapt to fast-paced, high-risk development projects

- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a drive to innovate and desafell. Prospective candidates willing to adopt agile methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management in multi-disciplinary teams
