About the Role

We are seeking a Development Director (Commercial) to strengthen and diversify our income, ensuring long-term sustainability and enabling us to grow our impact.

This critical leadership role requires someone with:

  • Commercial acumen combined with creativity and purpose.
  • A deep understanding that every new partnership, product or opportunity should ultimately improve the lives of older people in our communities.

As the director, you will:

  • Bring strategic commercial experience and a proven track record of income growth.
  • Build strong, values-aligned partnerships to unlock new revenue streams.
  • Enhance our paid-for services and ensure the organisation is resilient, ambitious and future-ready.
  • Collaborate with leadership to shape a sustainable, impactful future for thousands of older people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a commercial strategy to diversify income streams.
  • Grow the organisation’s paid services and partnerships, including client-facing initiatives.
  • Strengthen relationships with stakeholders—both internally and externally.
  • Foster innovation to optimise funding and revenue models.
  • Lead the team in delivering against financial targets while staying aligned with Age UK’s mission.

Requirements

  • Proven success in commercial development and income growth.
  • Ability to build meaningful, values-driven partnerships.
  • Strategic thinking with a track record of driving organisational sustainability.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management experience.
  • Passion for Age UK’s mission to improve older people’s lives.
