Development Economist (AI Training)

About The Role

We're looking for experienced development economists to help shape how AI understands global and development economics. Your expertise will directly influence the accuracy, nuance, and real-world relevance of AI systems tackling some of the world's most complex economic questions — from poverty and inequality to growth and international development.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge makes a measurable impact.

Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Review and evaluate AI-generated development economics content for accuracy, depth, and contextual nuance
  • Assess AI reasoning on topics including economic growth, inequality, poverty reduction, and global development
  • Provide structured, expert feedback to improve the quality of AI-generated explanations and analyses
  • Apply your academic or real-world experience to validate economic scenarios and arguments
  • Work independently and asynchronously to complete task-based assignments on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of experience in development economics research, teaching, or applied work
  • Strong understanding of global economic issues, development theory, and data interpretation
  • Able to critically evaluate written economic reasoning and identify gaps or inaccuracies
  • Comfortable working with structured review tasks and providing clear, actionable feedback
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently

Nice to Have

  • Graduate degree in Economics or a related field
  • Experience working in field research, NGOs, or international policy organizations
  • Familiarity with AI systems or content evaluation workflows
