About the Role

The Enabling Infrastructure team at Arcadis specialises in delivering development-led infrastructure projects, and we’re expanding in the west of England—primarily based in Bristle, with flexibility under our agile/hybrid working policy.
Our projects span:
- Mobility (transport hubs, rail, highways)
- Places (residential, commercial, retail)
- Resilience (green solutions, sustainable urban development)
We are actively growing our capabilities within the ports and logistics sector, so we’d welcome candidates with relevant experience.
This role is ideal if you are ambitious, career-focused, have worked in infrastructure and drainage design, and want support in achieving Chartered/Incorporated status via an ICE training agreement.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate Technical Director/Principal Engineer, your key duties include:
- Provide engineering design support for infrastructure, highways, and drainage projects within the Enabling Infrastructure team.
- Deliver technical advice and prepare:
- Reports
- Drawings
- Calculations
- Feasibility studies and site appraisals (for planning applications)
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams and contractors to ensure design integrity.
- Ensure quality assurance, manage client feedback, and clearly communicate changes/modifications.
- Follow Arcadis’ business processes for Safety, Health, Quality & Sustainability (SHQS).
- Stay updated with industry developments and expand your professional profile.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications
- BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
- Current progress toward Chartered/Incorporated status (ICE or equivalent).
- Prior experience in infrastructure and drainage design projects.
Experience & Skills
You should be able to demonstrate knowledge and hands-on experience in: ✔ Journal articles ✔ Development infrastructure design (surface water, foul water, highways, earthworks, utilities). ✔ Design standards, including:
- SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems)
- Strategic Flood Allahabad (SfA)
- DMRB (Decision Making Recognized Bodies)
- Local Authority requirements. ✔ Software proficiency in:
- Autodesk Civil 3D (infrastructure design)
- Microdrainage/Infodrainage (drainage models). ✔ BIM (Building Information Modelling) protocols for design delivery. ✔ Self-motivation with strong people skills to influence outcomes and collaborate effectively.
