Development Manager
Do you share our passion and commitment to creating permanently affordable homes across London?
Would you welcome the opportunity to join us on our journey to ensure that many more homes are priced according to local earnings, so that people are no longer priced out of the neighbourhoods they grew up in?
Are you a development professional with experience in delivering residential, regeneration or affordable housing developments?
If the answer to these questions is YES, we would love to hear from you.
While most development roles ask you to deliver homes. This one asks you to help change the future of housing in London.
About Us
London Community Land Trust is one of the UK's leading community-led housing organisations, creating genuinely and permanently affordable homes that enable people to remain in the neighbourhoods they know, love and contribute to. At a time when London's housing crisis continues to push families and communities further apart, London CLT is proving there is another way.
We're now seeking an exceptional Development Manager to help lead the next stage of our growth.
This is not a conventional development management role. It's a rare opportunity to join a purpose-driven organisation where you'll have the autonomy, influence and responsibility to shape projects from conception through to completion, while helping build the systems and processes that will support our long-term ambitions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Working directly with our Executive Director, Board and a wide range of development partners, you'll oversee a growing portfolio of community-led housing developments, taking responsibility for everything from site appraisal and development viability through to planning, delivery, stakeholder engagement and project handover. You'll also play an important role in developing our future pipeline, securing funding opportunities and ensuring every project remains rooted in the needs of the communities we serve.
Unlike larger organisations, where responsibility is often divided across multiple departments, this newly created role offers genuine breadth, visibility and strategic influence. It brings together responsibilities currently shared between our Executive Director and external project management consultants, allowing you to become a central part of our leadership team and shape how London CLT delivers its ambitious programme for years to come.
Qualifications
We're looking for an experienced development professional with a background in residential, regeneration or affordable housing who combines commercial awareness with outstanding project management skills and a passion for creating lasting social impact.
