Azure DevOps Engineer (SC Cleared)

Location: Wokingham - Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Rate: £315-£335 per day inside IR35

Working Pattern: Required to travel to office for ad hoc requests

Duration: 6 to 12 months initially

Clearance: Must hold active SC Clearance

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer (SC Cleared) to support the design, deployment, automation, and ongoing management of secure Microsoft Azure environments. You will work across cloud infrastructure, DevOps tooling, and Infrastructure as Code, helping to deliver scalable and secure cloud solutions within a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and support Azure infrastructure services.
  • Develop and maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code solutions.
  • Manage Azure DevOps pipelines, CI/CD processes, source control, and release automation.
  • Support Azure landing zones, networking, identity, monitoring, and platform services.
  • Implement cloud security best practices including RBAC, managed identities, encryption, logging, and policy enforcement.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshoot issues across Azure infrastructure, networking, identity, and deployment pipelines.
  • Contribute to governance, compliance, documentation, reporting, and continual service improvement activities.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
  • Proven Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, YAML pipelines, and CI/CD automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure networking, Entra ID, RBAC, and cloud security controls.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, resilience, and operational support.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure pipeline design.
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, Azure CLI, or REST APIs.
  • Exposure to AKS, App Services, Function Apps, and container-based workloads.
  • Understanding of ITIL/IT Service Management processes.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications and/or HashiCorp Terraform certification.
