DevOps Engineer
Barclays is seeking a DevOps Engineer, with a considerable DevOps focus to have responsibility for and optimise our continuous delivery pipeline. You’ll ensure deployment and build processes that power our API delivery, supporting both internal and external API changes. Your role involves implementing updates, preparing final deployment-ready packages, and ensuring reliable, automated delivery workflows.
While live incidents are infrequent, you may occasionally support out-of-hours deployments or incident resolution a few times per year.
Responsibilities
To be successful as a DevOps Engineer, you should have experience with:
Critical Skills
- DevOps & Automation (Jenkins, GitHub/BitBucket, CI/CD Pipelines)
- Cloud & Container Platform Proficiency (AWS, Docker, OpenShift)
- Linux & Scripting (Shell, Groovy, YAML)
Highly Valued Skills
- Knowledge of Java/Gradle or experience in application support
- Configuration Management Tools (Ansible, Chef)
- SDLC Frameworks (Agile, Scrum)

To design, develop, and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Key Accountabilities (Technical)
- Development & Delivery: High-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and performance-optimized.
- Collaboration: Cross-functional teamwork with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, strategy, and business integration alignment.
- Code Quality: Code reviews, knowledge sharing, and fostering culture to boost technical excellence.
- Stay Informed: Track industry tech trends and contribute to the community of expertise.
- Security Compliance: Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, ensure data protection, and maintain secure solutions.
- Unit Testing: Implementation of effective testing practices to ensure code reliability and clean architecture.
