DevOps Engineer
Senior Platform Engineer / Team Lead
Location: Manchester (Hybrid) Salary: Up to £70,000 + package
We're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join a growing engineering function, helping to design, build, and support cloud-native platforms used by large-scale organisations across a variety of industries. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll combine deep engineering expertise with mentoring, coaching, and technical decision-making responsibilities.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and mentoring a team of Platform and DevOps Engineers.
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable cloud-native platforms with a strong focus on AWS.
- Driving Infrastructure as Code adoption using Terraform across development and production environments.
- Promoting DevSecOps best practices and helping teams deliver secure, reliable solutions at scale.
- Implementing and improving observability through monitoring, alerting, logging, and distributed tracing solutions.
- Applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including SLIs, SLOs, resilience, and operational excellence.
- Supporting production environments, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement.
- Acting as a technical escalation point and helping define engineering standards and best practices.
- Leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and similar technologies to improve development efficiency, quality, testing, documentation, and delivery outcomes.
- Collaborating with stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver high-quality platform solutions that create measurable business value.

What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' commercial experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud services.
- Proven expertise with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience building and supporting cloud-native platforms in production environments.
- Strong DevSecOps background and understanding of modern CI/CD practices.
- Knowledge of SRE principles, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.
- Exposure to AIOps, automation, and proactive incident reduction strategies.
- Previous experience mentoring engineers or leading technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and guide engineering decisions.
- A passion for continuous learning, innovation, and modern engineering practices.
