About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our client, a pioneering UK technology company based in Leicestershire, undergoing an exciting transformation in their engineering practices. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that support vital public safety services across the UK. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, building, and enhancing secure cloud infrastructure, primarily utilizing AWS and modern DevOps tools. This position is ideal for a proactive professional with a passion for innovation, automation, and security, who is eager to influence the future of DevOps within a forward-thinking organization. The role offers a hybrid working model, requiring on-site presence in Leicestershire on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, along with remote work flexibility.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Proven experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, with EKS experience being highly desirable.
  • Strong background in CI/CD pipelines, automation, and deployment processes.
  • Experience with containerization technologies and Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps principles, including security tooling such as SAST/DAST, and cloud security best practices.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools to enhance platform resilience.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain SC security clearance at the required national levels.
  • A clean driving license and access to a vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Proof of the right to work in the UK and the ability to provide documentation verifying eligibility.

Responsibilities

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for a broad range of tasks aimed at improving the organization's cloud and DevOps capabilities, including:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
  • Enhancing CI/CD pipelines to improve automation, deployment speed, and reliability.
  • Embedding DevSecOps principles into the software development lifecycle, integrating security tooling and practices.
  • Implementing and improving observability, monitoring, and logging systems to ensure platform resilience and performance.
  • Driving automation initiatives and incorporating AI-assisted engineering practices to optimize operations.
  • Collaborating closely with Development, Infrastructure, and Support teams to standardize best practices and improve delivery processes.
  • Challenging existing workflows, introducing innovative solutions, and shaping the future DevOps strategy of the organization.
  • Ensuring adherence to security standards and compliance requirements across all cloud and infrastructure activities.
